get a move on

With the first birthday quickly approaching, everyone is always asking “is he is walking yet?” Maybe your baby has already mastered his baby steps. Maybe he’s still crawling. Or maybe, he’s enjoying being carted around everywhere by you.

Although the 1st birthday milestone sparks all sorts of comparisons between babies, don’t worry if yours is not running circles around the dining room table yet (in fact, consider yourself lucky if he isn’t - once he starts, you’ll be the one chasing after him!) Every baby develops at his own pace and some don’t start walking until several months after their first birthday. But we all walk eventually. . . have you heard any of your friends brag about when they started walking?

If you’re worried about a developmental delay, talk with your pediatrician. Otherwise, enjoy the last few weeks of relative calm before your baby starts trotting around on his own and getting into everything!

want to go for a walk?

If you’ve been using a carrier such as a sling or Baby Bjorn for your little one, you know the benefits of strapping on the baby while going about your day. They feel close to you, you can get things done, and you have use of both your hands.

But by this time, many babies start to outgrow the carrier you’re currently using. Are your days of walking as a twosome numbered? Try the Ergo Baby Carrier. It’s structured like a backpack so it distributes the weight evenly and it allows your baby to ride in front, on your back or on your hip. It’s super light and easy to transport and has a sleeping hood to support the head of your napping bundle.

tip for the week: high chair tactics

Is your baby resisting getting in the highchair? Try occupying his hands with a teething biscuit or other finger food to distract him, and then load him in. A change of focus works wonders!
